Huw Morgan is a lyric tenor who has performed a wide variety of solo and ensemble works. He started his career as a lead singer in a local rock and roll band, but developed an interest in classical repertoire when he joined choirs led by Jurgen and Jane Petrenko. After learning basic singing techniques with Lenard Whiting, Huw was coached and developed by Geoffrey Butler.
Mr. Morgan has a natural affinity for light opera and has sung lead roles in three Gilbert and Sullivan productions: The Defendant in Trial By Jury with the Trinity Presbyterian Players, Alexis in The Sorcerer with The Scarborough Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Frederic in The Pirates Of Penzance with The Scarborough G&S Society, and, most recently, Colonel Fairfax in The Yeomen Of The Guard also with The Scarborough G&S Society.
He has also sung in the opera chorus for the Mississauga Opera production of La Boheme and for the Opera Anonymous productions of Menotti's The Medium and Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress.
Huw is a founding member and board chair of the Toronto Classical Singers under the direction of Jurgen Petrenko. Huw has also made guest appearances as both a soloist and choir member of several other choral groups in the Toronto area.
