This is Debbie's eighth year with the society; she spent the first six onstage and is now in her second year as artistic director.
While she loves to perform and make a complete fool of herself onstage, she has found new joys as stage director and choreographer -- not that she would ever dream of making anyone in the group look a fool, mind you ... except those who are supposed to look like fools and may even make their living as jesters, whether successful or not as is the case this year, but it's not really Point's fault that he isn't all that funny, is it? Others just can't take a joke, like that young minx Elsie ... oh wait, that's Phoebe ... (actually, it could also be Dame Carruthers, but that's quite the back story and Yeomen only focus on present action ... unless you have a really odd director who likes to add things and an equally inspired musical director and orchestra, both game to spice things up).
Oh dear, where were we? England, 1600s, Beefeaters ... yes, that's the problem! Blame it on those tower warders -- they confound me! So pretty ...
Right, come see this year's show. Expect a spectacle AND an arquebus. Merrie olde entertainment for all!
